Waste and Wastewater Management

Below is a summary of Waid Environmental's Waste and Wastewater Services:
  • Permit and compliance strategy development

Development of a permitting and compliance strategy is affected by many factors: changing regulations, the possibility that both state and federal review may be required, the future use of the facility, the location of the facility with respect to area geology, topography, land use, and short-term versus long-term permitting considerations, among others. Early evaluation of these factors can streamline the process and balance the short-term and long-term needs of the facility.

  • RCRA permits

RCRA Permits can be entirely prepared by our staff or we can assist in preparing any of the individual plans required in the applications, such as the Waste Analysis Plan, Closure and Post-Closure Plans, Air Addendum, or Trial Burn Plan. Because of our expertise in the air field, our staff is particularly adept in permitting hazardous waste combustion units or facilities subject to the more recent RCRA Organic Air Emissions Standards.

  • National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and state waste-water and storm water permits

  • Agency negotiations and liaison

Agency negotiations are often necessary during a project, requiring frequent interaction with regulatory personnel. Major permitting issues are identified and discussed early in the preparation process to ensure that they are resolved promptly. Issues that arise during the agency's permit application review are expeditiously settled due to our frequent contacts with agency staff. In the latter stages of the permitting process, we negotiate with the agency staff to obtain permit provisions as reasonable as possible.

  • Regulatory analysis

Analysis and interpretation of environmental regulations is a crucial step in maintaining facility compliance. Our engineering staff reviews new and amended regulations at both the state and federal levels as they are proposed and adopted. A thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and the ability to interpret the requirements is essential in defining control deficiencies and discharge limits and in reporting and negotiating with the regulatory agencies.

  • Compliance audits and compliance resolution

Compliance audits and compliance resolution can be performed to help achieve and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and permit conditions. Our staff is also available to assist clients in resolving compliance disputes with the regulatory agencies when cited during inspections or complaints.

  • Contingency plans

  • Evaluation of source reduction and waste minimization options

  • Pollution prevention plans

  • Environmental site assessments and inspections

  • Environmental audits and risk assessment

  • Remedial investigation plans

  • SARA Title III reports
