Waid Environmental News
In 2008 the US EPA reduced the National Standard for atmospheric lead concentrations from 1.5 µg to 0.15. Effective 12/31/2010, the area immediately surrounding the Exide Technologies battery recycling plant in Collin County was designated as nonattainment for the 2008 level. Since 2010, Texas has worked towards improving air quality in that effected area. On April 27, the TCEQ will consider a revision that the EPA redesignate the Collin County nonattainment area to attainment. This request will also provide a plan to ensure the area remains in attainment through 2028.
